Transportation Worker Identification Credential, also known as TWIC®, is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act for workers who need access to secure areas of the nation’s maritime facilities/vessels or to work on cruise ships. U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, naturalized citizen or a nonimmigrant alien, asylee, or refugee who is in lawful status may apply for the credential.
To enroll in TWIC:
- Go to tsa.gov/twic
- Select Avalon Park, Orlando
- Pre-enroll online
- Make an appointment for in-person enrollment or walk in without an appointment
- Bring required documents and payment
- Complete the in-person process, which includes fingerprinting, photo capture, and document review
- Pay the application fee
- Get your receipt and card holder
Documents required:
- Valid proof of citizenship, such as a U.S. birth certificate, passport, or certificate of naturalization or U.S. green card
- Driver’s license

After enrolling for your TWIC, you will be notified by phone or email once your application is approved. You can also check your status online at any time using the enrollment provider’s website. Once approved, your physical TWIC card will be mailed to you. The entire process involves a security threat assessment that typically takes 30–60 days to complete.
